Im Rahmen des Heidelberger Laureate Forums besucht ein „Pionier des KI-Bereichs“ am 25.09.2024 das KPI und hält vor den Schülerinnen und Schülern der Oberstufe einen Vortrag.
Herr Prof. Dr. Reddy hat unter anderem 1994 den Turing Award für seine Arbeit im Bereich „Künstliche Intelligenz“ erhalten. Wir freuen uns, dass er im Rahmen unserer Vortragsreihe "Starke Vorbilder - Starke Kinder" bei uns zu Gast sein wird. Das Kurpfalz Internat ist seit Jahren ein fester Partner des Heidelberger Laureate Forums. In der Vergangenheit haben bereits Nobelpreisträger Vorträge zu Themen aus dem Informatik- und Mathematikbereich gehalten.
Unseren naturwissenschaftlichen Kolleginnen und Kollegen ist es ein wichtiges Anliegen, den MINT-Bereich weiter zu stärken und die Schülerinnen und Schüler für diese Themen durch interessante Vorträge zu begeistern. Als MINT freundliche Schule und als digitale Schule sehen wir es als selbstverständlich an, in diesem Bereich aktiv zu sein. Wir freuen uns, dass das Laureate Forum Heidelberg hier mit uns zusammenarbeitet. Frau Sauerbier, stellvertretende Schulleiterin und Lehrerin für Mathematik und Physik, konnte Herrn Prof. Dr. Reddy als diesjährigen Vortragenden für die Schüler gewinnen. In der Vergangenheit hatte Herr Dr. Dimitriou internationale Wissenschaftsgrößen für das KPI begeistern können. Vielen Dank an alle, die den Besuch möglich machen.

Informationen zu Prof. Dr. Reddy:
„Raj Reddy pioneered the construction of systems for recognizing continuous speech. He developed the first system,Hearsay I, capable of continuous speech recognition. In this system and subsequent systems like Hearsay II, Harpy, and Dragon, he and his students developed most of the ideas underlying modern commercial speech recognition technology. Some of these ideas—most notably the “blackboard model” for coordinating multiple knowledge sources—have been adopted across the spectrum of applied artificial intelligence. Together, the joint Turing Award recipients in 1994, Edward Feigenbaum and Raj Reddy, have been seminal leaders in defining the emerging field of applied artificial intelligence and demonstrating its technological significance. Raj Reddy is renowned for his work in computer speech recognition, robotics, human-computer interaction, innovations in higher education, and efforts.“
